UNC is legally unable to provide detailed information regarding specific conduct outcomes because of federal privacy laws (FERPA) and provisions for investigations contained in the Colorado Open Records Act. However, it is important to us to share brief context regarding each suspended/unrecognized organization’s violation(s).
Some organizations that have been suspended or unrecognized, continue to operate as non-UNC, independent organizations.
Although UNC is unable to legally prevent students from joining or continuing active involvement with organizations that have been suspended by the University, students are strongly discouraged from doing so and should be aware of risks they may be taking through continued involvement. UNC students who are considering joining or maintaining membership in suspended or unrecognized organizations should investigate the organization, the circumstances surrounding the suspension or loss of recognition, and make an informed decision about whether the organization creates an unsafe environment.
