Liberal Arts Curriculum
Welcome to General Education at UNC
At the University of Northern Colorado, the general education courses assembled in the Liberal Arts Curriculum are designed to provide the opportunity for all students, regardless of major field of study, to practice and develop skills sets and ways of thinking foundational to a wide range of professional career paths and preparatory for life in a democracy and freedom-oriented society within an interconnected world.
As a student-first university, UNC’s Liberal Arts Curriculum streamlines the requirements in order to reduce time to degree completion while retaining a meaningful and individually engaging learning experience for all students. This curriculum accommodates the CDHE's, Colorado Department of Higher Education, general education requirements and maintains UNC’s commitment to Multicultural and International Studies. All courses in UNC’s LAC are aligned with Colorado’s Guaranteed Transfer Pathways and are integrated with State Articulation Agreements.

Guaranteed Transfer Pathways (gtP)
All courses in UNC’s Liberal Arts Curriculum have the gtP designation meaning they have been approved by the Colorado Commission on Higher Education (CCHE) for inclusion in the Colorado GT Pathways Program. These courses will transfer to any Colorado public institution and count toward general education requirements for any liberal arts or science associate or bachelor's degree program if the student receives a grade of "C-" or better.

Statewide Transfer Articulation Agreements (STAAs)
STAAs are agreements between the public two-year and four-year colleges and universities in the State of Colorado. These agreements indicate how courses from the two-year colleges will transfer to four-year colleges/universities as part of a particular bachelor’s degree program. These agreements allow students to graduate from a community college with a 60-credit Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree, enroll with junior status at a four-year college or university, and complete the bachelor’s degree in no more than an additional 60 credits (for a total of 120 credits). Click the link below for more information and a complete list of STAAs.
